  • The association has been initiated by 26 founding-members<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • The President of the association was, all the time, an ostomate<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Between 1996 and 1999, the appliances were reimbursed by the NHS and after that by the National Health Insurance House. This was the most important attainment of Romanian Ostomy Association which has organized a\u00a0 pressure group for this matter.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • The members of the association are ostomates, relatives of the ostomates, members of medical staff, and other persons who want to sustain the need and the interest of the ostomates.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Other significant members of the association are stoma care nurses and psychologists.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Since 1999 our association has initiated different programs for training in stoma care field; Romania doesn\u2019t have a professional association for stoma care nurses.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Since 2003 the association initiated stoma-therapy competency courses.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    • Since 2005 the association has become provider for Medical Continuous Education, in concurrence with the National Order of Nurses.<\/li>\n
    • The association is self-financing by courses; a small amount of finances is provided by members fee, contribution of the Ministry of Labour and from the Associations of Retired Persons.<\/li>\n
    • We have a periodical newspaper: \u201cGradina Cismigiu\u201d- Cismigiu Garden; its name comes from a park who lies near our office. It contains useful information for ostomates and stoma care nurses.<\/li>\n
    • The association has periodical contacts with ROMANIAN OSTOMY PATIENTS SUPPORT FOUNDATION from UK.<\/li>\n
    • The members of our association are especially people who live in South of Romania.<\/li>\n
    • The members of our association pay a monthly fee \u2013 around 0,8 euros\/monthly.<\/li>\n
    • The association has sometimes collaboration with National Health Insurance House for improvement\u00a0 of\u00a0 reimbursement conditions.<\/li>\n
    • Our association has now around 800 members; not all our members pay monthly fee.<\/li>\n
    • We have an independent office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Counselling for obtaining free ostomy appliances<\/li>\n

      • Care advice; stoma care consultations<\/li>\n
      • Providing information for the most close-at-hand stoma care nurse for the patients from the countryside.<\/li>\n
      • Audio video informational materials for the patients and nurses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n

          • Counseling with the new patients in hospitals<\/li>\n
          • Different financial help for the under-privileged members or for the members who don\u2019t have health insurance; free of charge holidays in balneary resorts from Romania<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • More than 150 nurses attended competency course in stoma care<\/li>\n
              • Community nursing \u2013 important for stoma care in the last years<\/li>\n
              • Important project \u2013 a high level stoma care course and wound care course with lecturers from UK (ROPSF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
